In June 2021, recruiting firm Robert Half noted that half of Gen Z workers would pursue a new job after the pandemic. Many had put job searches on hold but by mid-2021, they said they were ready for a change.
A third of millennials said they plan to look for a new job after the pandemic ends (BizWomen, October 29, 2021). The pandemic gave them an opportunity to decide what they wanted from work and how a job would fit into their view of the life they have now and the life they want.
Most workers said they want to work for a company that shares their values. Almost three quarters said they would leave a company whose values didn’t align with their own.
These workers are treading boldly. The strong post-pandemic job market provides the freedom to make changes and leverage their skills.
